Outdoor Adventure





Needles Tunnel
The Keystone-Mount Rushmore area provides ready
access to several outdoor activities from
hiking and biking to hunting and fishing.

Our area also features several trail rides through
Black Hills National Forest and marvelous photo
opportunities in the Harney Range granite uplift
and in adjoining Custer State Park.

The Keystone Area Historical Society has also
provided historic walking trails in Old Keystone.

So, grab your camera and explore the Black Hills!


Horse Thief Lake

FISHING

located behind Mount Rushmore on Hwy 244, Horse Thief Lakeprovides excellent trout fishing in high granite country.

Grizzly Bear Creek and Battle Creek flow through Keystone to provide good habitat for brook, rainbow and german brown trout (when the creeks are running).


HUNTING

Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goats
and Mountain Lions roam the Keystone vicinity.

Designated areas in the granite peaks behind
Mount Rushmore and along the Needles Highway provide great turf for rock climbing and hiking.
