It’s not on any maps, but the locals find their refreshment in the cool waters of Battle Creek just east of Keystone at a place known as Hippy Hole. Cliff jumping, swimming and all around relaxing to the sound of a small waterfall. Ask anyone in town how to get there.
If you take this trail far enough, you’ll walk into the Norbeck Wilderness. But if you’re looking for a day trip that’s fairly primitive but not too long, the Grizzly Creek Trail offers a beautiful hike along a rock-strewn path along a small stream punctuated with occasional waterfalls. Find the trailhead at the Grizzly Creek Campground just off Iron Mountain Road.
